Control of error

Control of error

Control of error, a feature of Montessori materials, allows children to assess and correct their own work independently without adult intervention. Each material is designed with built-in feedback mechanisms—for example, wooden cylinders that fit only in their correct sockets or math materials that visually reveal errors—helping children to recognize errors and make adjustments. This approach fosters self-confidence as children learn to trust their own observations and persist in refining their work.
