Engrams

Engrams

Engrams refer to the traces left in the subconscious by our experiences, which create the foundation for memory and intelligence. Montessori describes engrams as enduring mental associations that are more significant than simple conscious memorization. They enable individuals to recall and build upon past experiences, even if those experiences are not consciously remembered. She connects engrams to subconscious cognitive processing and explains that a considerable amount of human intelligence functions at this deeper level.
